When I started kettlebell training, the recommendation in Pavel's books was for a trio of 16kg, 24kg and 32kg. Since I started at over 50 years old, I was not able to make those leaps in weight. The "in between" bells, 20kg and 28kg were what allowed me to progress. I did the right of passage protocol of 5 ladders with 5 rungs with 24kg (plus the corresponding pull ups) and after completing that multiple times, I still couldn't press the 32kg bell... volume didn't translate into strength at least for me. The 28kg bell arrived and I could start the whole protocol of three ladders with three rungs until I worked up to that 32kg. I never thought of "cheating" the bell up with a semi push press, but it might have got me there too.
I struggled a lot with ladders. What works for me is the volume cycling. Just adding one set every training. After being able to perform 10 sets per side, i go back to 3 sets but add one rep until 10 sets of 5 reps. Than i take the next bell (+8 kilo) I started in december with a 20 kilo bell for presses, than 24, 32 and now iam at 40 kilo 5 x 5
Very impressive! I think I'll try to get my barbell overhead press to 80 kg using sets of max 5 reps per set and then trying my luck with a single 40 kg kettlebell. I think the jump in weight between 24, 32 and 40 is just too big to fix with ladders. I can easily press 24 five times but can only push press a 32 right now.

Go and "cheat" it will help. In daily Situations you try to lift Things up anyway
It’s just one idea. I agree with you about the early bells, but it was a lot of fun trying to figure out how to get people to lift them.

@@reneverheij6938 ladders exhausted me, unbelievably heavy. Volume cycling is the key for me.
48 kilo is my goal, with ladders not possible i guess
There are many roads
I totally misheard "high knee" work as "heiney" work! 😂
All right then
I think you need to go over to Bret Contreras's Paige!🤣🤣
